Denver Neighborhood Seed Company artwork changing with the city...

December 9, 2015 Kenny Be

The Lincoln Park Asparagus (La Alma Supreme Crowns) artwork was redrawn to reflect the redevelopment of the neighborhood.

When drawing the original Lincoln Park Asparagus image for the Denver Neighborhood Seed Company project in 2011, I included the South Lincoln Homes in the foreground. Light industry separates the housing project from the Xcel Zuni Generation station that sits on the the South Platte River, the neighborhoods western border.

Affectionately referred to as "The Reds" by residents, the 278 housing units of the South Lincoln Homes were demolished in 2013 and are being replaced with 900 units of new apartments. To draw the updated image, I surrounded the newer densely packed apartment blocks with the lovely older homes that make the Lincoln Park neighborhood so special.
